Dr. Gina Merritt in Middletown,

Society of Critical Care Medicine in Brief
For those who aren’t familiar with the
SCCM, you should know that it was founded in 1970 by 29 physicians who felt
that the needs of the desperately sick (i.e. critically ill) were not being
properly met. They created the Society
of Critical Care Medicine, which is, today, a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
Today, the Society of Critical Care
Medicine is based in Chicago, and works diligently to ensure uniform practices
and high standards in critical care across the nation. From infants to adults, the Society of
Critical Care Medicine ensures that everyone
gets excellent treatment, whether they’re suffering from internal issues (heart
attack, stroke), or are the victims of external violence (e.g. gunshot wounds,
burns, etc.).

As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, GinaMerritt considered membership with the Society of Critical Care Medicine to be
indispensable. While many professionals
may be content to limit their professional associations to the larger and
broader professional organizations, Gina Merritt feels that the Society of
Critical Care Medicine is too important to not be involved in her practice.
Merritt feels that the resources and vast
network (close to 16,000 SCCM members in over 100 countries) that the Society
of Critical Care Medicine provides is too important to not take advantage
of. She hopes to be a member of the SCCM
for many more years to come.
